You can see disk2s2 in the screenshot below, the partition on my external hard drive hosting the APFS Container. Below that, /dev/disk3 is the APFS container, and /dev/disk3s1 is the APFS volume. I assume this is because the drive previously had a Bootcamp partition that I erased to install macOS Mojave, and now have completely erased. I first noticed it about a year ago when playing PUBG. One day, everything was great. Then I updated the full driver/GEF package, and instantly and permanently from then until today nvcontainer is trashing my hard drive for a half hour to hour every bootup and wakeup and it makes some games (not all!) run really, really badly. For example, I use a data-only container for MongoDB, called 'mongo-data'. When I run docker run -it --volumes-from mongo-data busybox, and then df -h inside the container, It says that the filesystem mounted on /data/db (my 'mongo-data' data-only container) uses 11.3G, but when I do du -h /data/db, it says that it uses only 2.1G.
