All the computers on my network keep resetting their DNS server to 8.8.8.8 which I believe is a Google public DNS. I change the DNS back to 192.168.1.1 and when the reset to 8.8.8.8. happens (often after just 5 minutes) the computers can't find the NAS drives and sometimes each other.

I am on frontier. I just use 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1. no real advantage to using frontier's DNS.I did 100 dns queries using 8.8.8.8, 1.1.1.1 and 74.40.74.40 and they all took around 4 or 5 seconds to complete. no real advantage speed wise for any of them. I think that google's ( 8.8.8.8) and cloudfairs ( 1.1.1.1) probably have better resources allocated to them than frontiers dns servers.
